Taylor earned her Master of Science in Education of the Deaf from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where she trained in an oral/aural program with a specialty in dual sensory impairments. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in Teaching All Learners and a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in English as a Second Language from the University of Memphis, graduating cum laude.
Taylor is a passionate Deaf education specialist with 10 years of experience supporting Deaf and hard-of-hearing students across elementary, middle, and high school settings. She has worked with both general and special education students for over 15 years and has been tutoring since 2016. She is specially trained in the Wilson Language Intervention program, which she has used for a decade with both typically hearing and hard-of-hearing students.
Throughout her career, Taylor has worked closely with students, families, interpreters, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and classroom teachers to create supportive and accessible learning environments. Her experience includes IEP development, progress monitoring, assistive technology, itinerant teaching, and collaboration with multidisciplinary educational teams. She also brings working knowledge of ASL and extensive experience in interpreted settings while maintaining a strong oral/aural instructional foundation.
Taylor has been recognized with the California 2024–25 National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Candidate Subsidy Award and the OSEP Personnel Preparation Deaf and Deaf-Blind Education Scholarship, reflecting her commitment to continued professional growth and inclusive education.
In her work with students, Taylor prioritizes strong relationships, individualized support, and high expectations. She believes in meeting each learner where they are while providing the structure, encouragement, and strategies they need to build confidence and independence.
Outside of her professional work, Taylor enjoys reading and writing prose and poetry and can often be found working on a creative project involving language.
