Kiana B.
Kiana Brizendine is a graduate from Bard College with a BA in Written Arts. She received a 3.99 GPA and honors on her senior thesis, a novel. She has worked as a writing tutor for many ages and academic levels -- children and high schoolers as a private tutor, undergraduate students at Bard College, graduate students at the Bard NYC program, and adult-aged incarcerated students at the Bard Prison Initiative.
Through years of tutoring, Kiana listens well and can adapt her tutoring approach. While she's well-prepared, her experience in improv has also made her flexible, ensuring the tutoring session is guided by the concerns and interests of the tutee. Through a balance of rigor, encouragement, and humor, she has inspired multiple past tutees to become tutors themselves.
After winning a prestigious Scholastic Art and Writing Gold Key award in high school, publishing a short story in a competitive literary magazine in college, and completing multiple long-form writing projects, she knows how to navigate the maze that is productivity. By adapting her study techniques to suit her own unique learning style, she has earned a nearly perfect GPA at Bard College. She has learned to manage her own perfectionism and ADHD, and it’s a passion of hers to help others do the same.
Kiana is a novelist and screenwriter who has worked as an intern, production assistant, and executive assistant at various film, TV, and podcast ventures. In her free time, she reads, watches movies, performs in improv and theater, and sings very loudly.
