Katelyn S.
Katelyn Stouffer is a Psychology major with a minor in Health and Society at Loyola Marymount University, graduating this December. Her academic and research background is rooted in neuropsychology, where she has studied aspects of cognition such as attention, memory, executive functioning. She has hands-on experience with neuropsychological assessments, cognitive testing, and independent projects exploring how stress, anxiety, and other factors influence cognitive performance.
Katelyn has always been driven to help people get “unstuck” and build the kind of structure that makes their lives feel more manageable and fulfilling. She is especially passionate about ADHD, both as a researcher and as someone with lived experience. She understands firsthand the challenges of organization, motivation, and follow-through, and has spent years developing evidence-based strategies to overcome them. This personal journey allows her to connect with students authentically, giving them tools to build confidence, independence, and consistency. In her tutoring, she emphasizes organization, time management, active reading, and memory techniques that help students break down overwhelming tasks into smaller, achievable steps. Her style is warm, encouraging, and adaptable to each student’s learning needs. She believes that academic success comes not just from memorization, but from engaging with the material on a deeper level.
Beyond academics, Katelyn has dedicated herself to roles that allowed her to help people grow in meaningful ways. As a mental health technician, she supported individuals facing psychiatric and substance use challenges, guiding them in rebuilding structure and daily routines. She has also volunteered in a skilled nursing facility, engaging residents in activities to support their cognition and memory, and at UCLA Health, where she assists patients in hospital settings. During the pandemic, she served as a tutor and mentor through the Covid NineTEEN Project, providing individualized academic support to elementary students from under-resourced schools. Across all of these roles, she has seen how structure, encouragement, and small daily strategies can make a difference in helping people thrive.
Looking ahead, Katelyn plans to begin graduate school in the coming year with the long-term goal of becoming a neuropsychologist. Her aspiration is to combine neuroscience, psychology, and her lived experience to help individuals with ADHD and other cognitive challenges unlock their full potential. Outside of her academic and professional work, Katelyn enjoys reading (especially neuroscience-focused books), journaling, fitness, and exploring creative outlets.
