Dr. Daniel Brice Tague (PhD, MT-BC) is an educator, researcher, and board-certified music therapist with more than 25 years of experience helping learners grow through clarity, structure, and confidence-building strategies. He earned his PhD from Florida State University, where his research focused on how group improvisational drumming can benefit in-patient individuals in acute psychiatric hospital units. He is also a co-researcher on the largest international longitudinal clinical practice survey in music therapy. Dr. Tague completed his master’s degree with honors at the University of Kansas and holds a bachelor’s degree in Russian Language and Area Studies and European History, graduating summa cum laude as the highest-ranking graduate in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University.

In addition to his academic background, Dr. Tague is a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) who has provided clinical, educational, and research-based support across hospitals, schools, and university settings. His professional work has been recognized through numerous invitations for public speaking engagements, presentations, and media interviews, as well as features in academic journals. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed studies and several self-help and educational books, most recently Music for the Heart, which translates evidence-based skills into accessible tools for everyday wellbeing.

As a tutor, Dr. Tague excels at helping students feel grounded, organized, and capable. He is particularly skilled at supporting learners who benefit from structured guidance, clear step-by-step reasoning, or help reducing academic overwhelm. His background in both education and therapeutic communication allows him to quickly build rapport, adapt instruction to each learner’s strengths, and translate complex concepts into simple, memorable strategies. Whether a student needs support mastering content, developing study routines, or building academic confidence, he brings a calm and encouraging presence to every session.

Dr. Tague is inspired by educators, therapists, and researchers who explore creativity and resilience in their work and dedicate themselves to helping others thrive. Their commitment reinforces his belief that learning is a whole-person process—intellectual, emotional, and deeply personal.

Outside of teaching, Dr. Tague runs Music Makes Sense, LLC, where he creates books, guides, and digital resources that help families, students, and educators use music- and sensory-based tools to support focus and wellbeing. He enjoys writing, designing educational materials, mentoring students, and spending time with his family, especially through music and outdoor activities. He and his family love to travel internationally and learn about other cultures. Supporting his daughter, a high school senior preparing for a degree in Commercial Music, has further strengthened his commitment to student-centered learning.

Above all, Dr. Tague wants his students to feel capable, supported, and proud of their progress. He is excited to bring his experience, patience, and enthusiasm to The Ladder Method community.
