Corinne M.
Corinne is an LA-based educator with over a decade of teaching experience, most extensively as a classroom teacher at various independent schools. After graduating from Harvard-Westlake here in LA, she moved out of state to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Journalism School, with an emphasis on Strategic Communication. After moving back to the West Coast, she earned her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University, along with her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
What makes Corinne unique as a tutor is her relationship-based teaching approach. As a classroom teacher, she always looked beyond the assignment to educate the whole child, developing strong relationships that led to engaging, impactful lessons. She loves tutoring because it provides an even greater opportunity to get to know each student and meet them where they are. She loves watching students gain independence as they begin to trust their own thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Corinne is particularly inspired by educators and mentors who lead with curiosity and warmth and who model lifelong learning for the students around them. As she promotes a growth mindset with her students, she especially appreciates those who are successful and take pride in the mistakes that inevitably came first.
Outside of tutoring, Corinne always enjoys a weekend camping trip along the coast or up in the mountains. While she adores LA, she knows how easy it is to forget about all of the natural beauty surrounding the city when caught up in the busyness of everyday life. When at home, Corinne enjoys reading, eating, boxing, and taking her dog, Thor, for walks to the park.
