Max H.
Max graduated from Wake Forest University, where Max majored in Mathematical Statistics and Computer Science. He graduated summa cum laude and was a member of the Dean's List for all eight semesters. Math has always been a strength and passion for Max, and he was drawn to statistics because of its connection to one of Max's biggest interests—sports. He loves exploring the ways data and probability shape the understanding of sports at the highest level and completed their senior thesis on Ward’s Method of Hierarchical Clustering for NBA Player Classification.
During his time at Wake Forest, he also took several creative and academic writing classes. Writing remains one of Max's favorite hobbies, and he believes im strong communication skills are among the most important assets one can have, both inside and outside of the classroom.
After Wake Forest, Max attended NYU School of Law, where he was a McKay Scholar (top 20% of his graduating class). After graduating NYU, he moved to Los Angeles and worked as a corporate attorney. While he gained valuable experience there, Max realized that his true passion lies in education. He remains a member of the California Bar, he is now pursuing a career in education, with the ultimate goal of working in education policy. His decision to pursue education was inspired by the incredible teachers and mentors who shaped his own academic path.
Max believes that his varied academic and professional background makes him a unique tutor, enabling him to teach a wide range of subjects, from math and statistics to government and law to writing and test preparation. Perhaps more importantly, this experience has also equipped him with the skills to help students build critical thinking, organization, and study skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
Outside of tutoring, Max is an avid runner and has completed marathons and ultra-marathons. He also enjoys watching football and basketball, playing chess, reading, and writing in his spare time.
