Mica graduated cum laude from Western Washington University with a major in Chemistry and a minor in Physics before earning a Ph.D. in Chemistry from UC Berkeley. She has more than five years of tutoring and teaching experience across a range of subjects, including mathematics, STEM, and academic writing.

Mica began tutoring at her university’s tutoring center while also serving as a writing coach. During graduate school, she taught undergraduate science courses at UC Berkeley and received an Outstanding Instructor Award for her teaching methods. She also worked at MIT, where she coached students and staff on technical writing and communication.

As a tutor, Mica is known for her calm, patient, and encouraging approach. She is particularly skilled at helping students who feel anxious or overwhelmed by challenging material, breaking complex problems into clear, manageable steps. She takes the time to understand how each student learns best and uses their individual interests and strengths to make difficult concepts feel more approachable.

Mica believes that students can succeed in challenging subjects when they are given the right approach and an opportunity to connect with the material in a meaningful way. Her goal is to help students strengthen their academic skills while building the confidence to tackle difficult problems more independently.

Outside of tutoring, Mica enjoys reading, writing, hiking around Los Angeles, and caring for shelter cats at a local animal rescue.
