Maxine G.
Maxine earned her Master of Arts in the Humanities from the University of Chicago, where she specialized in Race, Diaspora, and Indigeneity. She also holds a Master’s in Statistical Practice and a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University.
Maxine brings a unique combination of experience in education, mathematics, statistics, and technology. She has worked as a statistical research consultant for Carnegie Mellon University’s Radical Pedagogy Lab, an adjunct statistics instructor at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, a learning design intern for K–12 education company KindEd, and a tutor for students in the Chicago area. Prior to returning to graduate school, she worked as an AI Engineer and Data Scientist at IBM.
As an educator, Maxine believes that every student brings valuable experiences, perspectives, and strengths to the learning process. She takes a collaborative and individualized approach, adapting her teaching style to meet students where they are and helping them approach challenging material with greater confidence and curiosity. Her goal is to create an engaging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing new strategies, and becoming more independent learners.
Maxine is fluent in Spanish, proficient in Portuguese, and is currently studying Mandarin.
