Beverly Hills Unified's 2026-27 plan puts $1,359,801 into intervention and credit recovery, and that line pays for before- and after-school tutoring. Ask the school about it before you pay anyone, us included.
What the district's 2026-27 Local Control and Accountability Plan funds this year:
TK-8: small-group instruction and targeted tutoring in English and math, staffed at 5.0 full-time positions.
Grades 9-12: free credit recovery courses.
Summer: intervention for English learners in TK-8. More than 300 students took part in summer intervention and credit recovery in 2025.
AirTutors: $150,000 for tutoring in a student's home language, in any subject.
A $71,723 state Learning Recovery Emergency Block Grant to expand the same intervention, including more after-school tutoring.
For every junior, in the plan's words: "the PSAT, SAT School Day, AP and summer college readiness bootcamps," budgeted at $55,000.
The Beverly Hills Public Library, at 444 North Rexford Drive, adds free 1-on-1 online tutoring through Tutor.com, 7 days a week from 1 to 10 p.m., listed on its Kids & Teens page. A library card is free for Beverly Hills residents.

District programs run on the school's schedule and are built for students who are behind. An honors student aiming for a 5 on AP Calculus BC needs something else.
How to Compare Math Tutoring Options in Beverly Hills

A C in Beverly Vista math and a D in junior-year Algebra 2/Trig are different jobs. Name the job first, then compare.

Beverly Hills High's Math Scores Split at Both Ends
In spring 2025, 52.1% of Beverly Hills High 11th graders met or exceeded the state math standard, up 3.9 points from 2024. The other 47.9% didn't.
The gain came from the top, and the bottom grew at the same time. Grade 11 math levels in 2025, with the change from 2024:
Advanced, the highest level: 29.6%, up 4.5 points
Proficient: 22.5%, down 0.5
Developing: 17.1%, down 5.2
Minimal, the lowest level: 30.7%, up 1.2
Statewide, 30.5% of 11th graders met the math standard. The same Beverly Hills juniors did better in English, where 67.3% met the standard.
The district picture reads differently. Across Beverly Hills Unified's tested grades, 62.8% met the math standard in 2025, up 5.1 points. The 2025 California School Dashboard rates district math Green, 27.1 points above standard and up 14.1. 71% of students improved their math score from the prior year, a growth level the Dashboard calls Accelerated.
Both are true. A district rated Green still has nearly 1 in 3 juniors at the lowest math level. None of the tutoring pages ranking for this search mentions either number.
These are spring 2025 results from the state's CAASPP tests, as published by EdSource, and they are the latest public release. The state posts 2026 scores in mid-October.
The UC Math Rules That Changed for Courses Finished This Fall
For courses completed in fall 2026 or later, Statistics no longer clears a D or F in Algebra II for University of California admission, and no later course clears a D or F in Geometry.
At Beverly Hills High, Algebra 2/Trigonometry is the Algebra II course, and it's required to graduate. Students on the math and science path start 9th grade in Geometry.
Through summer 2026, a D or F in Algebra II could be cleared by later passing Precalculus, Calculus, Other Advanced Math, Statistics or Additional Math. From fall 2026, only the first 3 count. UC calls Additional Math a new discipline option, and it won't validate Algebra II either.
The trigger is when your student finishes the higher-level course, not when they apply. A Statistics course finished in 2025-26 still validates. The same course finished in 2026-27 doesn't. UC first planned the change for fall 2025 and pushed it back a year.

Is there a D or F in Algebra 2/Trig or Geometry on the transcript?
Is the plan to clear it with a later course instead of retaking it?
Will that later course finish in fall 2026 or after?
3 yeses on Algebra 2/Trig: the later course has to be Precalculus, Calculus or another UC-approved advanced math course. 3 yeses on Geometry: no later course fixes it, and the Geometry grade itself has to be repaired.
A tutor who tells a junior that AP Statistics will clear a D in Algebra 2/Trig this year is working from last year's rules. Confirm your student's case with a BHHS counselor. The transcript and the school's course coding decide it.
Beverly Hills Runs the Traditional Math Sequence
Beverly Hills High requires 3 years of math in a set order: Algebra 1, Geometry, then Algebra 2/Trigonometry. Honors sections run for Geometry and Algebra II/Trig. Above them sit Pre-Calculus, AP Precalculus, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC. The 2024-25 school profile lists no multivariable calculus. Our tutoring page lists Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra, which sit past the top of that sequence.
The pace gets set in 8th grade. A student who takes Algebra 1 at Beverly Vista starts high school in Geometry and has room for AP Calculus. A student who starts 9th grade in Algebra 1 reaches Pre-Calculus in 12th grade unless they double up or take a summer course.
A tutor who asks only the grade will teach the right math at the wrong pace. Ask anyone you're considering which course title they'd plan around, honors or not, and which unit they'd start from.

When You Should Not Hire Us
Paid tutoring isn't always the right first step.
Call the school first if your student is in TK-8 and behind. BHUSD funds small-group math intervention and targeted tutoring at those grades.
Use a marketplace tutor for a single-unit rescue, when your student mostly gets the material and missed 2 weeks.
Get an evaluation first if math has never worked. Years of trouble in every math course, in a student who works hard, is a question for a psychoeducational evaluation, and that comes before tutoring.
Hire an executive functioning coach if the math is understood and never submitted. That's a planning and follow-through problem, and more math instruction won't fix it. Our executive functioning coaching in Beverly Hills is a different service.
Check the IEP or 504 plan first. Ask what math support is already written in before you pay for a second version.

Does AP Statistics still clear a D in Algebra 2 for UC?
Not for courses completed in fall 2026 or later. Statistics still counts as a year of math for UC, but it no longer validates a D or F in Algebra II or Integrated Math III. Only Precalculus, Calculus and Other Advanced Math do. The rule depends on when the later course is completed, not when your student applies. Confirm the case with the school counselor.
Can a later math course still clear a D in Geometry?
Not for courses completed in fall 2026 or later. UC ended Geometry grade validation at the same time Statistics stopped validating Algebra II, so the Geometry grade itself has to be repaired. Confirm the case with the school counselor.
Does "certified" mean a math tutor is licensed?
No. California doesn't license private tutors, and "certified" on a listing is often a platform or business badge. Ask whether the tutor holds a California teaching credential, and whether they have a current Department of Justice Live Scan and who ran it.
My child is failing Algebra 2/Trig. Where should a tutor start?
With a diagnostic, before this week's homework. Working backward through the sequence finds the last topic your student holds cleanly. Teaching the current chapter over an unrepaired gap wastes the sessions that follow.
Is math tutoring the same as executive functioning coaching?
No. A math tutor teaches the math. An executive functioning coach builds the system that gets work planned, started, finished and submitted. A student who understands the material and doesn't turn it in needs the second service.
