Five Pressure Free Ways to Bring Back Good Habits During Co-VID 19

In this new world of social distancing, how can you start to bring back good habits in an easier and pressure-free way? ⠀

As someone from my meditation class echoed back to me, it all starts with what we feed ourselves. Not just in terms of food and nutrition but also in how we feed ourselves spiritually. ⠀

What are some positive ways you can nurture yourself today: ⠀
⠀
1. Limit your exposure to the news. There is being informed and then there is binging on negativity. While I love a little CNN, sitting for hours staring at numbers and data curves isn't going to change anything. Instead, look for articles that focus on the silver lining.⠀
⠀⠀
2. Head Outdoors. Do you have a garden you feel safe spending time in? Go there. If you are ready to take a walk in their neighborhood, do that (at a distance). ⠀

3. Schedule Quiet Time. It's okay to tell your family you need quiet time. I heard someone say that they were having trouble giving themselves "space" to take care of their own needs. But this is a great time to begin negotiating for what we need--in a time of challenge. ⠀

4. Vitamin D. With all this time indoors (in the spring), you need to help yourself replenish the Vitamin D. A great way to do that is to buy citrus the next time you head to the grocery store. Salmon, Fatty fish, and even eggs are all great sources of Vitamin D. ⠀

5. Set up a spiritual practice. This is the perfect time to introduce yoga or meditation if you don't have a practice that can help you "calm" your nervous system. If you have little ones at home, have them sit with you and practice "mindfulness." If you already have a great yoga practice but are still feeling more anxious than normal, remember--In a time of stress, you may have to "up" the amount you are already doing to stay in balance. That's okay. ⠀

How have you been taking care of yourself and nurturing yourself these last two weeks?
